斯蒂芬•霍尔建筑师事务所设计的“ex of in house”破土动工,这座住宅原先是位于纽约莱茵贝克的一个实验性的客房和艺术家工作室。作为正在进行的“潮流探索”研究的一部分,本项目是对现有庸俗的建筑语汇和商业实践的一种质疑,以及对空间语汇、能源、开放性和公共空间的探索。这个项目位于一块28亩的原先划分成五块郊区宅地的自然保护区中,而此设计最大的挑战就在于对场地的保护。


设计师认为,与其将场地划分成五块区域,不如将整块空间整合成一块保护区,因此,没有将一个住宅拆分成若干项,而是将一个建筑放置在建筑场地的中央。其中这个建筑是由三个空圆壳相交而成。通过保留这块场地,这个项目同时扩建了原有画廊的“T”形空间。


这座房子的核心是一个厨房,它也是整个建筑中最大的一个空间。因为保护了这块区域,这座房子将得益于这里良好的冷热环境以及充足的太阳能。

Solar-powered Ex of In House in New York features all 3D-printed fixtures inside


This self-sufficient house in New York features a unique range of 3D-printed interior fixtures. Characterized by a variety of voids and arches created by intersecting spherical spaces and tesseract trapezoids, the Ex of In house designed by Steven Holl Architects offers an attractive alternative to the modernist suburban residence. And it's green to boot.


The 918-square-foot house sits on a 28 acre forested site in Rhinebeck, New York called T2 reserve. It is an experimental landscape slated to be subdivided into five different plots. By intersecting spheres and tesseract trapezoids, the architects came up with a design that features dynamic spatial relationships. This is first felt at the entry porch, where an orb of wood carved out of the main volume of the house welcomes the entrant.


The house is powered by geothermal and solar energy. Thin film photovoltaic cells are connected to a battery energy storage system, making the house completely self-sufficient. All the fixtures inside the house were 3D-printed, while the glass and wood were sourced locally, minimizing the home’s embedded carbon miles.
